Learn all about English Paper Piecing by making a hexagon block. You will learn several techniques including:
–making templates and “windows” to identify which parts of fabric to cut
–studying and identifying various elements within fabric to “fussy cut” to make creative EPP blocks
–tracing template onto fabric and cutting pieces
–basting fabric onto paper pieces via 2 different methods (thread baste or glue baste)
–stitching pieces together in sections and then sections sewn together to complete block
Your single block can be the springboard for a future quilt or you can incorporate your block into a small project such as a mug rug or pincushion.
Student Supplies- students must provide or purchase ahead of time at the shop
–Several Pieces of coordinating fabric such as 2 fat quarters or a charm pack
–Scissors for cutting fabric
–Pencil to trace on fabric (or other writing instrument like Frixion Pen)
–Needles – size 8-11
–Cotton thread in neutral color such as medium gray or tan/cream ideally 50 wt
–Thimble if desired
Supplies provided in class
–Paper pieces (triangles and ⅓ hexagon crowns)
–Template plastic
–Sharpie for tracing
–Scissors for cutting template plastic
–Multiple Pieces of fabric to show fussy cutting options
–Glue for of basting
–Samples of the blocks used in a project(s)
