Learn to sew the perfect all-season skirt! This pattern is great for beginner and intermediate sewers alike. In this class, you’ll learn how to sew inseam pockets, french seams, hem facings, elastic waistband, and a drawstring. Get ready to do some twirling in your handmade skirt!
Ages 18+
Class prep:
-Purchase, download and print pattern. Link to pattern can be found here
-If you are not sure how to print a PDF pattern please ask us at the shop and we can help direct you to printers in the area. You can also print and assemble the pattern yourself at a local library
– Review the size chart and select your size
– Cut out paper pattern in your selected size and style
– Prewash fabric (Wash, dry, and iron)
Materials needed (not included in class cost, but students will receive a 15% discount on class supplies purchased at Sew to Speak)
– Fabric: Please review the pattern fabric requirements (page 5) for the exact amount needed for your size.
– Lightweight linens and cottons are recommended. Brussels washer is a great fabric for this pattern
Students will need to bring the following supplies:
-Sewing machine
– Chalk or marking tool
– Sewing machine needles
– Pins or wonder clips
– Thread and bobbin
-Safety pin, elastic threader or bodkin (for threading through the elastic)
