Pincushion Class
Learn to make a pincushion that has a ceramic base. Techniques you will learn in the class:
–use of template to identify best cut of fabric for placement within ceramic vessel
–making of pincushion insert including making and stuffing yo-yo
–attaching button
–making matching decorative crystal/glass beaded pin
You will leave the class with a completed pincushion and pattern (emailed PDF) for future projects.
Students must provide or purchase the following supplies ahead of class time:
–Fabric – minimum 5″ square of various choices
–Scissors for cutting fabric
–Needles (sharp needle that accommodates Perle Cotton size 8, such as an embroidery or darning needle)
Instructor will provide the following supplies
–Pattern for Salt Cellar Pincushion
–Pincushion base/vessel
–Templates for tracing
–Perle cotton for sewing yo-yo
–Needles in various sizes for sewing yo-yo
–Poly-fil
–Buttons
–Perle cotton in colors
–Needles in various sizes for sewing on button
–Pins
–Beads
–GS Hypo Cement for gluing pins
–Small scrap of fabric to hold pin until glue dries
–Hot glue guns and glue sticks
